Is Democracy the Answer?

I look at America in which almost 50% of the population is unhappy with the party in power and I look at India where corrupt politicians exploit poverty and illiteracy to win office, and I have to ask - Is absolute democracy the answer?

I dont like voting sytem In India where huge population consists of people who even dont know whom & why to vote & what will be the impact of their decision on our country, could we expect the right voting decision from these people? on the other hand most of the politicians dont do their job properly.
I have only solution to many problem - There should be a written test followed by many rounds of interviews, like Civil cervices for all Political positions.
