I don't think an expression of love can be, so why is it always such a big deal?

I think only because it was originally a Catholic holiday (St. Valentine) that it would have any religious backlash. Otherwise it is just an overly American Hallmark holiday, which culturally clashes with Hindu tradition. In the end, I think such silly American holidays are what you want to make of it, no?

i think it's all about making money....hallmark, candy companies, bears, victorias secret....etc.... all these places and others put a guilt trip on people, guys especially, if they don't cough up some money and buy this stuff. im not catholic, but if a guy wants to buy me flowers, i will take them. :)
